The MUNI bus system is a terrible public transportation
medium that can leave you waiting in the cold for hours. Although
it is completely unreliable for any kind of timed appointment, it does
have a certain entertainment value:
- I've been in several MUNI wrecks.
- I've heard MUNI drivers verbally abuse passengers.
- I've watched a MUNI driver stop a full bus in the middle of traffic to get coffee.
- I've seen a MUNI driver attack a passenger with a rolled-up newspaper.
I was taking the 1 California bus home from work late one night, and our driver had the inter-bus-radio
on to ask about the crowds up ahead. I heard another driver casually come on the radio to make
an announcement:
"This is John from the #5 outbound, and.... my bus is on fire."
MUNI is a system where Murphy's Law never fails.
